A Slice of Paradise
This cookbook is not only great, but it is beautiful as well. It does a wonderful job of featuring Florida's exotic fruits and seafoods with unique receipes and easy preparation. Some great receipes I have tried are the Key Lime Danish, Mango Nut Bread, and Mahi Mahi with Mango Salsa!!! I highly recommend this cookbook to anyone who enjoys cooking and is looking for some interesting new receipes.

A cookbook for everyone, great variations on old favorites
What a nice surprise! I purchased this book expecting recipes that would be great for Florida. What I found was a book full of terrific recipes that are for anyone living anywhere. There are traditional favorites with unique twists and fresh recipes using creative combinations of readily available ingredients. I particulary like the selection in skill and prep time. There are quick and easy recipes for last minute plans. There are also more involved creations for an enjoyable rainy Saturday afternoon. The use of fresh ingredients and emphasis on healthy recipes was an added bonus. It's true; Junior Leagues really know how to collect the best recipes. I would recommend this book to anyone (it makes a great gift too!).

a feast for the lighthearted eater
I am continually suprised at the fun recipes that I keep finding in this book. I read cookbooks cover to cover and I cannot keep a copy of this one in my house. I show them to my girlfriends and off they go with my latest copy. I am on number four at this time. The seafood and pasta sections have delightful recipes for a dinner party, and the salads are to die for!!! The Palm Beach Pasta Salad is my personal favorite. Hats off to the Junior League of the Palm Beaches. You have outdone yourself!!!

The Most Complete and Informative History of Our Local Area
Mr. Simon has outdone himself with this exceptional piece of work - not only a great read full of lots or great pictures, but an excellent historical resource that you'll refer to again and again! Nowhere else have I found such a comprehensive history of our local area...

Loved it!
It was so nice reading a book that was about what is still home to me even after not living there for 15 years. Some of the people in there are people I knew when I was a child. It made me real homesick.Love to Aunt Mary she was friends with my Grandmother.

WHAT A BOOK!
Only a person who has been there and done that could capture the rhythm and color of the growth of South Florida. Sandy Simon has put together not only the history of the area, but the feel, even the smell of the past 100 years. Marvelous! It deserves to be on everyone's bookshelf.

Palm Beach Houses
Published in Hardcover by Rizzoli (June, 1991)
Authors: Shirley Johnston, Roberto Schezen, and Shirley Johnson
Average review score:

A brilliant book for architectural enthusiasts.
My boss has this book to get ideas for designing custom homes for high-profile clients. I have read the book from cover to cover but every time I open it, it seems like I discover anew more pictures & details of these beautiful homes. These Palm Beach houses were built as if they were competing with one another for the title of 'most splendid work of art'. Most are not sprawling mansions or overly complicated expressions of the wealth of their owners. They are, however, fine examples of the architecture of Palm Beach summer homes of the 1920's priveleged upper class.

I love this book. Of course It would be nice if there were floorplans. And as usual one closes the book wishing he could see more photos of each of the houses. But there are many stunning photos. Kudos to the photographer. It is well worth the money and I will get it someday if I can no longer borrow it from my boss.

Superb illustrations and text
This fine coffee table book is filed with wonderful photographs of a small selection of some of the finest mansions in the country. The ranges of houses from Adam and Regency, to simple clapboard, to Spanish/Moorish is excellent. The text is informative, accurate and well written. If interested in South Florida fine architecture, this book is a must.

Play Better Golf

This book is great!!!
After reading this book and putting in practice what I learned, I felt I had to come back here and post a comment on it. Let me tell you that this book became my Bible on golf. I have shown it to some of my golf friends and ALL of them ordered one. Even my brother who is handicap 2 and a golf fanatic ordered one. Mike covers ALL aspects of the golf swing: grip, stance, movement, etc. The comparison of the Classic and Modern swings is very well done and his tips, believe me, help a lot! If you had many golf professionals teaching you different things, you need a reference. I made this book my own.

The best overall golf instruction book I've ever seen!
I've been playing golf for over 25 years and this book has had THE most profound impact on my game. Coverage of the fundamentals is strong, but the parts that really made a difference were the chapters on the short game, including pitching, chipping, putting, and sand. The pitching and chipping techniques presented here are simple to learn and easy to remember. Best of all they helped me shave many strokes from my score!

Eleanor of Palm Beach
Published in Paperback by Xlibris Corporation (September, 2002)
Author: Pryor Hubert
Average review score:

Sad but Interesting
ELEANOR OF PALM BEACH is a biography of Eleanor Chase Fatio. Mrs. Fatio was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, where she displayed literary talent from the earliest age. By the 1920's, when she herself was only about 20 years old, she already was a best-selling novelist.

Mrs. Fatio's affluent family began wintering in Palm Beach back when that resort was new. At the turn of the 20th Century, the Town of Palm Beach had been created, virtually whole cloth, by railroad and steel magnate Henry Flagler as an escape for the very rich.

Subsequently, Eleanor would marry Maurice Fatio, a Swiss citizen who became a naturalized American. According to letters Eleanor wrote, and which the author includes in this book, theirs was a great love match. Maurice was one of a handful of architects responsible for that opulent look now associated with contemporary Palm Beach, a style which has been adopted widely in affluent American communities.

Unquestionably, Eleanor and Maurice were accomplished and fascinating people. One of this book's greatest flaws is the sparcity of detail it offers; too often, his account is little more than a timeline of where they were and when. The author implies that the Fatio's surviving child gave him access to her mother's papers. At the least, it would have been nice if he would have reprinted the first chapter of one of Eleanor's bestsellers.

Nonetheless, this biography is a fascinating peek at the genesis of Palm Beach through the eyes of two of the people who gave form to the modern town. Thus, it is worthwhile reading, though the ending in inescapably sad.

law and the language
This book is a masterpiece! As a practicing attorney and former English major, I have never seen such meticulous and detailed study of how lawyers and witnesses talk. I found it useful for my legal practice and just plain fascinating intellectually. I strongly recommend it for attorneys, legal scholars, and anyone interested in this case.

MAX OF PALM BEACH

Max of Palm Beach
Max of Palm Beach is a heartwarming story of a most loveable dog that overcomes injury, homelessness, a death sentence, and even overwhelming affection. The adventures of how he was able to escape a brush with death and end up living in the lap of Palm Beach luxury is told from Max's point of view and by the author who adopted him.

This is a charming children's story about how each one of us can make a difference when we care about and act on to improve the wellbeing of others less fortunate, how it brings joy to our lives, and it's a great read - share it with someone young or old.
